Domain Name
This will become your identity on the web so choose carefully. Words that represent your company name or products are useful. Also names that contain keywords for your industry sector. Try to make it short and memorable with less chance of spelling errors. Many names will already be taken so be prepared to compromise.
Company Logo
This is just as important on the web as it is anywhere else especially with branded products. As with all graphics for the web keep the file size small. If you already have a compny logo use the same one for your web site.
Layout Considerations
This depends totally on the image you want to create with your viewers but mainly it should be kept as simple as possible so that a visitor can get to the information as soon as possible. Ideally there should be something for the viewer to see within a few seconds from clicking on the link. For this reason, among others, we tend to advise against using large flash™ shows on corporate web sites. If people have to watch a 'downloading' slide bar for very long they will go somewhere else.
Colour Schemes
Generally background colours should be soft and muted with a clearly visible font colour. Background images with many colours can obscure the lettering on top and make the page hard to read.
Search Engines
There are many ways that your site can be optimised to gain ranks with search engines. Arguably some of the most important are to keep relevant content containing keywords near to the top of the page, having a product relevant domain name, and including well chosen meta tags on the page.
Web Site Promotion
There are many companies out there that will offer to 'promote' your web site for you, some more reliable than others, but by far the best form of promotion is to get other sites to link to yours. If you have contacts that have a web site try to give them a reason to put a link to your web site on theirs.
Fonts
There are millions of fonts available for web or printing work however, if you want to be sure that your web pages display exactly as we design them for you, there are really only two. Times New Roman or Ariel. Any font that is used as text on your web page must be installed on the viewers computer to display correctly. For designs that require a particular font such as logos then the font is better converted to an image.
The font size and colour are also important to ensure good readability.
